Launch Day Update
I can't believe that I got so busy that I didn't even update you all on our Launch Sunday! Sorry! The biggest thing going on in our lives right now and I fail to tell you about it!
Of course, we are now three weeks removed from that first Sunday and it almost feels as though we have been meeting at Journey Church forever. Our first Sunday was great and exciting, but these last few weeks since then have been more exciting. We've had lots of people come back and invite non-churched friends. Several people who have not gone to church in quite some time have come and keep coming back. Saying they enjoy it! Lots of individual stories would be hard to tell them all, but things like a woman who had only been to church ONCE in her lifetime (for her birthday when she was ten) has now been two weeks in a row and is coming to our Newcomer's Gathering Sunday night at our house! Or that last Sunday, we had seven babies in the nursery and the workers had to send for more help! Or just when Jon was feeling overwhelmed by the finances, he got a note from a family in Roanoke with a very large check in it! God is surely taking care of us!
This Wed. we will be handing out hot chocolate and donuts to parents who are out trick-or-treating with their children. We hope to be able to tell lots of people about Journey Church. Since our working in the concessions at the football games we've had lots of buzz around town about the church. Any mention of it and most people say they have heard about it. My neighbor told me today that she was at the Harvest Fest at the elementary school and the man in front of her in line was talking about it, so she asked what he had heard. He told her he had talked with people who had gone there and liked it!Very encouraging things going on! Hope that's a good update for you ( wish all you Roanokers could have been here for our first Sunday, we felt your prayers and support).
